My Lent Journey : Day 3
I love coffee. The scent of it when it’s brewing, the taste of it, the slow, sharp kick it gives. Imagine my delight when I was told that a daily cup of it would help me with my low blood pressure; that memory still makes me smile like a cat with a big mouse between its teeth.
And that’s why I gave it up for Lent. 40 days of no coffee, more prayer and more study of the Word of God.
It seems a small thing…but for me, it’s significant.
What will perk me up in the mornings then?
Maybe remembering this verse I studied from my Lent devotional today will help.
Isn’t that delightful? The knowledge that God has overcome the sorrows of the world. What is there to fear when God has conquered every threat?
There will always be challenges, always be unhappiness. …always be troubles.
But..”take heart! I have overcome the world.”
To feel the full impact, replace ‘you’ with your name. As in “I have told Kwakyewa these things that in Me, Kwakyewa may have peace. In this world Kwakyewa will have trouble. But take heart! I (God) have overcome the world.”
Reading this verse lifted my spirits, writing this piece put a smile on my face.
As broad as the one I usually have after drinking my morning cuppa.
Care to give it a try?
