Finding God In Strange Places #20

My Lent Journey Day 16

psalm 68

Yesterday I learnt about the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace and Wonderful Counselor. And today I’m introduced to the :

Father to the fatherless

Defender of widows

The One who places the lonely with families

The One who sets the captives free

And the One who places the rebellious in a sun-scorched land.

During that period, the marginalized in society were widows and the orphaned.

In these times, the marginalized are members of the LGBQTI+ community, teenage girls and women at risk of forced marriage or sex trafficking and so many others.

God calls Himself the Father of society’s outcasts but what do we do? We Christians who claim to be saved by the Blood of the Lamb? We shun them, we judge,we close our doors, we close our eyes and our ears to their hurts.

We are all sinners, but we reason, our sins are less heinous than theirs.

It is fortunate that we are in Lent, when I can reflect on God, His persona and His personality and see how closely I imitate Him.

He is the Father of the fatherless and the One who defends the defenseless. If He is my Father and I am His daughter, then how closely am I following in His footsteps?
